H&M continues to support Dignity's Skills Training Program
28 June 2022

H&M's partnership is directly supporting Dignity’s Skills Training and Employability Programme (STEP) that brings together academic learning and hands-on, real-world experiences for an all-rounded education that meets the needs of youths while serving the neighbouring community.

At the start of Term 1 in 2022, we kickstarted new skills training programs - hospitality, multimedia and computer skills, retail and farming, and jewelry making. Through this partnership, we are able to support 271 youths in gaining knowledge in 13 different skills.

We’ve also managed to launch a Women Train Women Programme at sew X dignity, a Transformational Enterprise which is also a learning classroom. Most of the women enrolled are our students’ parent who are single mothers/widowed and need an extra income.

Machine and materials are provided and the training aims to equip these B40 women with basic and intermediate sewing skills. One class is held every week and they have the opportunity to work on 6 projects: creating coasters, facemask, pouches, drawstring backpack, tote bag with lining and pocket, and lanyard strap.

Upon completing the class, depending on their level and commitment, Dignity will then include them in our network of part-time tailors.
