From Doctor to Teacher: Dr. Simerjit's Journey of Service in Kenya to Classrooms and Field in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur!
11 December 2025

For 23 years, Dr. Simerjit dedicated her life to medical and humanitarian work.
She served in Kenya under Doctors Without Borders, providing care to vulnerable communities - a path inspired by her early volunteer experience in Aceh after the 2004 tsunami.

When she returned to Malaysia, one conviction guided her next step: continue serving refugees.

"I chose to join Dignity because of my years working with vulnerable communities.

When I returned to Malaysia, I wanted to continue supporting refugees and other vulnerable children, and I found Dignity - the perfect place where I can love, protect, teach, and care for them."

Since joining Dignity in 2024, she has found a place where she truly belongs - teaching, mentoring, and guiding secondary students with insight drawn from a life of service.

One of her proudest contributions is setting up Dignity’s First Aid Club! Through it, she empowers students with essential first aid and lifesaving skills and gives them the confidence to support school events throughout the year.

Thank you Dr. Simerjit for teaching and truly caring for our students!
