KUALA LUMPUR – It was truly a Malaysia-styled ‘gotong royong’ as corporations and individuals came together to give eat X dignity café, a transformational enterprise by Dignity for Children Foundation (Dignity), a makeover.

Having served the Sentul community for over seven years, eat X dignity café wanted to refresh its look and to serve a new menu. It also depended heavily on sponsorships and donations and those are hard to come by in the aftermath of a pandemic.

The new-look eat X dignity offers dine-in, takeaway, and catering.

When eat X dignity’s plight was known, several parties jumped to its help. Assistance came in various forms – donations in kind and cash and pro-bono offers of individual skills, talents, and expertise.

Among the supportive and creative partners that came together were Berjaya Cares Foundation, Ikea, Bunga Design Atelier, ID’Zire, Suri International Sdn Bhd, Coffex, Barista Guild Asia, Monin, the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF) and S.C. Shekar.
The refurbished eat X dignity café also showcases products from the organisation’s other enterprises.

Co-founder of Dignity, Pastor Elisha, said, "The X in eat X dignity represents collaboration, intersection, and connection between communities and Dignity.

"This has proven true as Malaysians – corporates and individuals – come together time and again to give us a helping hand whenever we needed it. We are most grateful to these Good Samaritans.”

“Dignity believes in providing an authentic, engaging, and holistic education. At eat X dignity, we aim to give our students the vocational training they need. At the same time, they are exposed to the value of preparing and consuming nutritious food that is healthy, locally sourced, delicious, and affordable,” added Pastor Elisha.

Delicious local and Western fare with a Dignity twist.

The new-look eat X dignity café opened its doors on July 13. It offers an array of affordable local, western, and fusion dishes catering to the appetite of patrons in an endemic era.

According to Pastor Elisha, the café is open for private events on-site and will resume its external catering service soon. There are also plans to open a sister café at Dignity’s Farm Academy in Bentong. – The Vibes, August 19, 2022
